I'm taking a different approach with this topic because all I've been seeing is bad, degrading and disrespectful comments about Rick Ross and his decision to go without a shirt. I rarely see positive feedback, which surprises and upsets me. You often hear people preaching about being confident and loving your body regardless of your size, but the moment someone actually do it, they get criticized for it. What really gets me is the fact that most of the people criticizing Rick Ross are overweight themselves. One guy from a blog stated "I will never be seen without my shirt". My question to him is "why?". I'm all for size acceptance and believe that everyone should have the freedom and the right to wear what they want. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but your opinion shouldn't limit individuals of what they should wear just because of their size. Let them make that decision for themselves.
Society tells us that it's NOT okay to look like Rick Ross and take your shirt off. It's an unwritten rule that if you're bigger than the average person you shouldn't want to wear anything revealing or anything that will make you uncomfortable by displaying that you're "BIG".
Despite the many limitations for "bigger" people by our society, Rick Ross takes the initiative to prove to a lot of people that he's free to take off his shirt anytime he desires and that he's very comfortable while doing so. The fact that Rick Ross refuses to play by anyone's rules (other than his own) makes his "no shirt movement" all the better.
Rick Ross is very brave. Although Rick Ross doesn't mention being shirtless a lot, he's saying a lot by just doing it.
RESPECT
